Brotica recently signed an agreement with Ensystex for exclusive sales of the CO₂ termite bait in Australia by Ensystex. The CO₂ attractant has been patented in Australia. Brotica is completing patent protection in the United States (patent pending) and other countries are under consideration.

A research paper published in the April 2005 issue of the Journal of Economic Entomology describes the CO₂ attractant technology for termites. The study includes a dose response to carbon dioxide for three species of subterranean termites (Reticulitermes flavipes, R. virginicus and R. tibialis) and a field study conducted at rangeland sites with a number of CO₂-generating formulations.
